The first half of the year has continued to be a rollercoaster of ups and downs. Being a trusted advisor to our clients is more important than ever as they grapple with return-to-work strategies and economic challenges. While Chicago’s industrial fundamentals still look great, we’ve all been in the business long enough to know that the ebbs and flows will keep us on our toes.
One thing we know for certain is that SIOR Chicago Chapter’s return to in-person events has been good for business, but more importantly, good for the soul.
The first half of the year included a cocktail event in Oak Brook with SIOR Global CEO Robert Thornburgh, SIOR; a luncheon in Rosemont featuring an insightful conversation around proptech investment; and a spectacular Platinum Sponsor appreciation event spent on the 3.5-acre rooftop of the Old Chicago Post Office redevelopment in the West Loop.
I encourage everyone to attend our outings whenever possible, as they are the lifeblood of SIOR.

SIOR TAKES CHICAGO!
Thanks to all of you that attended our fantastic Platinum Sponsor Appreciation Event at Chicago’s Old Post Office on June 28th. If you had an opportunity to listen to Gensler’s Ashley Rogow tell the story of this unbelievable redevelopment, consider yourself lucky! There’s no other story in Chicago real estate quite like it. Our group spent time indoors and out, and the 3.5-acre rooftop was the site of some great food, drinks, and camaraderie. Check out the event photos here.
7/25: Our annual SIOR Chicago Golf Outing held on July 25th at the fantastic Glen View Club was a great success. Look for photos and a recap soon!
DUKE LONG’S TOP FIVE TECH TOOLS TO KNOW
Thanks to those of you attended the May 12th SIOR Chicago Chapter luncheon at Gibsons in Rosemont. Ryan Moen, SIOR led an insightful discussion with Duke Long, Entrepreneur in Residence with NAR REach, a global technology accelerator backed by the National Association of Realtors. The talk was focused on the staggering amount of investment in proptech, and how technology can solve for better human (and client!) connections, improve process, and help you stand out in a sea of vanilla when pursuing new clients or trying to keep existing ones.
Our members were very interested to know which technologies Duke was especially bullish on, given NAR REach has nearly 200 companies in its portfolio. Click here to read about the top five proptech tools recommended by Duke.

PHILANTHROPY
Once again, SIOR Chicago has participated in raising funds for the Ada S. McKinley Trunk Event, providing valuable for support for college-bound students in need. Thanks to Elise Couston, SIOR for leading this effort on behalf of SIOR Chicago. There’s still time to make an individual donation here.
The recent Highland Park shooting was devastating to our local communities. Don’t forget to help the victims and their families in any way possible. Here’s the link to the Google Doc of resources and donation opportunities that we previously shared.
Thank you all for your continued commitment to SIOR. I can’t wait to see what the rest of 2022 has in store for us. See you all soon!
